Nihongo Ride collects nothing. There is no account with us, no analytics, no tracking, no advertising, and no server of ours anywhere. The app talks to Apple's own services on your behalf — iCloud, Game Center and the App Store — and to nothing else. We never receive your data from any of them.
Nihongo Ride does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on any server of ours. There is no developer backend to send anything to. We — the developer — never receive any information about you or how you use the app, and we have no way to.
Everything you practise works with no connection at all. Three optional things use the network, and all three are Apple's, running under your own Apple Account rather than an account with us:
Your learning progress — which words you've practiced, your spaced-repetition review queue, your ride log, and your settings — is stored locally on your device (in the app's sandbox container). Since version 1.32 that also includes a small local tally of which kana you are most often refused on, kept so the app can show you what you keep missing; it is counts and kana, never a record of your keystrokes, and it is never synced or sent anywhere. Deleting the app removes all of it.
With iCloud sync on, the items listed above under "Data collection" are also in your own private iCloud. Nothing else leaves the device.
The developer collects no data at all, so there is nothing about a child for us to hold. It contains no objectionable content. Game Center leaderboards are the one place a name can be visible to other players; signing out of Game Center on the device switches that off.
If a future version changes how data is handled, this page is updated. This page was rewritten in September 2026: the earlier wording said the app made no network connections at all, which stopped being accurate when iCloud sync shipped and stayed on this page longer than it should have. Nothing about what the developer receives has ever changed — that is still nothing — but a privacy policy has to describe the app that exists.

你的学习进度(练过哪些词、间隔复习队列、骑行记录、设置项)保存在你设备本地(应用沙盒容器内)。从 1.32 版起还包括一份本地统计:你最常被拒的假名有哪些,用来告诉你"你反复错在哪"。它只有假名和次数,不是击键记录,既不同步也不外发。删除应用即清除全部这些数据。
开启 iCloud 同步后,上面「数据收集」一节列出的那几项也会存在你自己的私有 iCloud 里。除此之外没有任何东西离开设备。
