The generator suddenly stopped — what happened?

RoastMate AI on the free tier allows 5 generations per day. The counter resets at local midnight. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited generations.

Does my text leave my device?

It depends on the intensity. Calm, Sharp, Savage and the "Make it sendable" rewrite run entirely on your device via Apple's Foundation Models — that text never leaves the device and works in Airplane Mode. Vent and Feral private drafts route through a developer-owned cloud proxy by default (Apple's on-device model won't produce real venting); the situation text plus an anonymous per-install device ID are sent for inference and our proxy keeps no copy. You can switch Vent / Feral to local in Settings → AI & Privacy → Stronger Vent / Feral (Cloud AI). See our Privacy Policy for the full data-flow.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Open the App Store app on your iPhone → tap your profile picture → tap "Subscriptions" → tap "RoastMate Pro" → tap "Cancel Subscription". Apple handles all subscription billing.

How do I get a refund?

Apple handles refunds. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with the Apple ID used for purchase, find the RoastMate Pro charge, and request a refund. We have no way to issue refunds on Apple's behalf.

I bought Pro on my iPhone — why isn't my Mac showing me as Pro?

Make sure both devices are signed into the same Apple ID in App Store settings. Then on the device that's missing Pro, open RoastMate AI → Settings → Account → "Restore Purchases".

I signed in with Apple. Where is my data stored?

Sign in with Apple stores only a stable user ID in your device's Keychain (it doesn't share your real Apple ID with us). Your roast History and Settings, if you've turned on iCloud sync, live in your own iCloud private database — only accessible to your own Apple-ID-signed-in devices.

I want to delete everything.

In the app: Settings → History → Clear all. To also wipe the iCloud copy: iPhone Settings → [Your Name] → iCloud → Manage Storage → RoastMate AI → Delete from iCloud. Uninstalling the app removes the on-device store.

I'm a journalist / security researcher / parent — how do I verify the privacy claims?

To verify the local-only path: open Settings → AI & Privacy and turn off "Stronger Vent / Feral (Cloud AI)", then enable Airplane Mode. Every intensity will continue to produce output, confirming nothing is fetched from a server. With Cloud AI on (the default), Vent and Feral send the situation text to our Cloudflare Worker; the Privacy Policy describes exactly what is sent and what is (not) retained.
