Stride

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 7, 2026

Your habit data is stored locally on your device by default. Stride contains no advertising code and no analytics service. Only two things ever leave your device: anonymous crash and diagnostic reports, and — if you choose to create an account — your email address and habits, for sync.

Overview

Stride is a habit tracking app for iOS and macOS. We believe your personal habits are your business and no one else's. This privacy policy explains how Stride handles your data.

Data Storage

All habit data you create in Stride is stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. Your data is not sent to any external server unless you opt in to the cloud sync feature.

Stride uses Apple's App Groups to share your habit data between the main app and the home screen widget. This data sharing happens entirely on your device.

Cloud Sync (Optional)

If you choose to create an account, your habits are transmitted securely (via HTTPS) to our own server, operated by the developer, solely for the purpose of syncing them across your devices. This includes habit names, emoji, goals, schedules and reminder times, groups, notes, and your check-in history. It is stored with your account and is not shared with anyone. We do not analyze your habit data, use it for advertising, or sell it. Sync is entirely optional — the app is fully functional without it, and without an account none of your habit data leaves your device.

Account & Authentication (Optional)

Stride does not require you to create an account. If you choose to use the sync feature, you will need to sign in with your email address. Your email is stored securely on our server and is used only for authentication purposes. Sign-in emails are delivered through Resend, an email delivery service, which receives your address only to deliver that message. We do not send marketing emails, and we do not sell or share your email with anyone else.

Crash Reports

There is no analytics service in Stride. Earlier versions listed one, with an opt-out switch in Settings; it never sent any data, and version 1.3.0 removes it along with the switch.

Stride uses Sentry, a crash reporting service, so we can find and fix problems. The app sends it:

Versions 1.2.1 to 1.2.3 also attach to each crash or error report a short trail of what happened just before it: the screens that were opened, taps, and the addresses and status codes of recent requests to our sync server (not their contents). Version 1.3.0 and later do not collect this trail.

These reports contain technical information only — such as the app and operating system version, the device model, and where in the app's code the problem occurred.

Data We Do Not Collect

Stride does not collect any of the following:

Notifications

Stride may send you optional push notifications to remind you about your habits. These notifications are scheduled locally on your device and are not routed through any external server. You can enable or disable notifications at any time through the app or your device settings.

Subscriptions & Payments

Stride offers optional subscriptions through Apple's App Store. All payment processing is handled entirely by Apple. We do not have access to your payment information, credit card details, or Apple ID. For information about how Apple handles your payment data, please refer to Apple's Privacy Policy.

Data Deletion

All local data can be deleted at any time by deleting the app from your device, or, from version 1.3.0, with "Erase Local Data" in Settings. If you have used the cloud sync feature and wish to delete your server-side data, you can use the "Delete Account" option in Settings. This will permanently remove your account and all synced data from our server.

Children's Privacy

Stride does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Since the app functions fully without an account, no special provisions are necessary for offline use.

Changes to This Policy

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version on this page and update the "Last updated" date above.
